What
is PLC?
A Programmable Logic
Controller, or PLC, is a Micro controller Based Device used for industrial automation. These
controllers can make automatic for a specific process, machinery, Home
Automation or even an entire production
line.
How PLC does work?
We have to connect the all
the input and output devices to the plc module to activate all inputs and
outputs by writing program in PLC. The PLC receives information from connected
sensors or input devices, processes the data, and triggers outputs based on
pre-programmed parameters.
Depends on Your
requirement you have to connect input and output to accordingly. Let’s if you
want to do home automation, then you have to connect the sensor to get light
automatic on. Check the connection below.
Function Block Of Plc
In a PLC System:
v The control program inside the PLC provides the wiring
connection between the devices.
v The control
program is the computer program stored in the PLC’s memory that tells the PLC
what’s supposed to be going on in the system.
v The use of a PLC to provide the wiring connections between
system devices may be called soft wiring. This soft wiring feature is useful.

Programming?
A program consists of one or more instructions that accomplish a
task. Programming a PLC is simply constructing a set of instructions. There are
several ways of programming languages in plc, they are:
v
ladder logic
v
statement lists,

Before writing the program in plc you need to connect the module with
PLC software by using communication port like RS232,Serial Communication,Modbus
or Ethernet based on your application. You need to give the connection to all
your in put and out devices, Then you have to write the program in plc. Ladder Logic is the traditional programming language. There are four basic steps in the operation of all PLCs; Input Scan,
Program Scan, Output Scan, and Housekeeping. These steps continually take place
in a repeating loop.
Scan Cycle:
During each operating cycle, the processor reads all inputs, takes these
values, and energizes or de-energizes the outputs according to the user
program. This process is known as Scan.
Steps:
v Read the input
v Execute the logic
v Update output
The logic is downloaded from PC to PLC, then start Scanning.
